Mother

You sing us love songs
in carillon of waterfall
and chiming creek

You stroke our brow
with balm of breeze
and sweet rain kiss

You suckle us
with honeyed fruits
and grains to feast

You rock us close
in womb,
in cradle sway
of  sea

Your kiss is lightening fierce
and moan is thunder clap

You banshee howl in
hurricane,
and piqued you
scatter us
with whirlwind slap

Your sorrows drown us
pull us to your ocean breast
your tears are acid
sketched into eroded skin

yet as we lay within you
below your graveyard grass
you hold us tender in
your teeming web of life
